While growing up in a very small town in South Dakota, I was always heavily involved in athletics on both the high school and college level. While I had above average athletic ability, I was plagued with chronic fatigue and emotional issues that negatively impacted my performance both on and off the athletic field. I remember barely having enough energy to make it to class, let alone practice. In desperation and convinced that I was dying, I saw a doctor and had numerous labs run. I was shocked and in disbelief when the lab came back normal.

In an attempt to address my chronic fatigue and to help myself feel better, health and wellness became a passion of mine. As a result, I made the decision over 30 years ago to make the health and wellness industry my career. In 1986 I started my career as a personal trainer, yoga, and fitness instructor.
